More of the Grand Tetons
We've really had terrible weather for the last 2 weeks. It rains almost everyday and it's hard to tell each day exactly when it is going to rain so you just do what you plan on doing and hope for the best. We took a 7 mile hike today and saw some lovely sights but lots of clouds and ended up hiking the last 2 miles in the rain.
We visited the sight of a rock slide near our campground.
You can see the area that slide down.
This was the scene leaving Thayne that morning. A field of dandelions is a beautiful sight.
This is over in the area where the land slide took place.
The clouds are almost off the peaks.
Took this picture as Lee Tracy and I hiked around Jenny Lake.
Even though the clouds were covering the peaks it was still beautiful.
Met some beautiful deer along the path and this guy just posed for me.
Lee and Tracy on the trail ahead of me going around Jenny Lake. This was before it started to rain on us.
Jenny lake
This is what you do if you have a hot flash just sit down in the snow like Tracy.
This is one of the sites on our hike today. Boy, was that baby ripping!!
He is so furry and cute and posed for me.
Like I said before, after being in California and Arizona as long as we were it is so good to see and hear water like this.
The downhill slope of the trail and the rain has started.
View across Jenny lake.
It was raining and misting but I still felt this was an incredible sight.
This guy was right in the campground.
Look at all the lovely colors nature put in the foreground. Of course, the tops of the Tetons are still cut off by the clouds.
Jackson Lake
Lee looking into the original homestead of a man who lived in this valley for 30 years.
Saw some elk on the way home.
Tomorrow we will go into Jackson Hole tourist town just outside the Tetons. Mostly for snow skiers and white water rafters. Nice little town.
Cute town with lots of shops and restaurants.
Museum outside of Jackson Hole
This picture was taken of lee and I the last time we made the trip west. About 6 years ago now. Look at the difference in the mountains. This was August. and I would say that is a much better time to come. May is just too cool for me.
From here we go to Virginia City and then on to Glacier park.
Sometimes we need someone to simply be there. Not to fix anything, or to do anything, in particular, but just to let us feel that we are cared for and supported. Author unknown.
Did I hear an Amen?
