Windy Ridge, Mt. St. Helens

Today, after I swam my laps in the pool, we had breakfast and then packed at picnic lunch. We drove up to the northern end of Mt. ST Helen.s NP.  The drive to Windy Ridge is beautiful many scenic pull outs.  When we arrived at Windy Ridge we walked up to the overlook which is 432 feet up and then 432 feet down. It was worth the walk.

Look who decided to peek through the clouds--Mt. Rainier

Mount Adams in the background

This is Spirit Lake at the base of Mt. St. Helen's.  The grey section on the right side is the log jam from all the fallen timber during the volcanic eruption in 1980.

Mt. St. Helen's

That's the Swift River below and it is still full of logs.

There were 432 steps up to the top of the overlook but it was well worth the view.

Another shot of Mt.Rainier later in the day lost the top in the clouds.
