Lava River Cave Bend Oregon

We left at 10:00 to hike the Lava River Cave. It is a tube created by lava flow. It was very interesting and about a mile long. You needed flashlights of course and I would recommend hiking boots also.

This is the entrance down into the cave.

You had to stoop down in some places.

Lee and I at the end of the trail.

Some scenes around the campground.

After the cave hike we all went to Red Robin restaurant along the river.  It was lovely.

Lovely place to have lunch and enjoy the view.

Today we drove the Cascade Lakes scenic by way.
It was about 96 degrees today but a lovely drive.

Lave Lake
Little Cultus lake where we camped with our children 42 years ago.
Our tent was set up right here about 42 years ago.

This is where the children went down to the beach.

Big Cultus Lake

Wickiup Reservoir
The banks on this reservoir look as far down as they do in CA. Washington and Oregon have only gotten about 35% of their snow melt and lakes and reservoirs are down here.

Redmond Rodeo 2015

The first day in Bend we got in late so simply set up, took the dog for a walk and went to bed early.  The next day we went tubing with our friends Marie and Marvin and some friends of theirs.  It was about and hour and a half and very relaxing. I don't have any pictures because Lee didn't want me to take my phone even though a had a waterproof case for it.

That night we found out the rodeo and fair in Redmond was free for seniors so we went to the Rodeo.
That's been on my bucket list for a while so now I can cross that one off.

This picture was taken leaving the Long Beach Peninsula.

Mt. Hood

It was a beautiful drive to Bend

Went over to Sun River Village and walked around a little and had a coffee.

This team of horses was a joy to watch. He did all kinds of turns etc with them with voice commands.

Bronco riding

Calf roping--- this guy was fast

We enjoyed watching the horse keep the rope taunt until the calf was roped.
Ride um cowboy

Calf roping

In this particular event one cowboy has to lasso the steer's horn and the other cowboy has to lasso it's two back legs.

This is a pair of cowboys competing in the event I mentioned above.

Only one bull rider stayed on the 8 seconds.

The end of a beautiful evening and a beautiful day.

Before I blog off I have 2 more pictures to include. One is on Nicky at the beach with Tom our brother in law and the other is a collage of Nicky at the beach.

Two happy boys!!

Week with Tom and Becky (Lee's sister)

We leave tomorrow after a lovely week with Tom and Becky.  They are the easiest people in the world to be with and just so much fun.  It's sad we can't all be together more. They have promised to come east summer of 2017 and I am going to hold them to that.

On Saturday Mike, Jason, and Christine were all here and it was so good to see them and catch up. Tom, of course, was doing his master grilling-----ribs yummy.

This is Jason and Warren's dog Jack.  Isn't he adorable?
