Trip across SW to FL

Once we left Tucson we pretty much were just concerned about getting across the southwest and into Florida. We went from Tucson to Las Cruces, NM where we spent 2 nights. We stopped here on our way out west. The historic town of Mesilla is a mile walk from the campground and we really enjoy walking through that old town. From there we drove to Fort Stockton, TX and spent the night and then on to Medina Lake, TX just outside of San Antonio. Next we spent a night on the road and then stayed outside of New Orleans in Land of the Pines campground. While there since we already did New Orleans we went  to Fairview Riverside state park and spent the day. The next day we were on the road heading for DeFuniak Springs FL on the panhandle to visit our good friends Ed and Janie.

So good to see theses guys again
Nicky loves these

This is Fairview Riverside SP in LA. No cost to seniors to get into the park and the camping is $18. above the river and $20. on the river and that is with water and electric. Lovely grounds here.

Their is a really nice boardwalk along the river.

This is a Spanish moss lovers paradise.

Campers all have nice shade.

This was an old sawmill.
They logged a lot of Mahogany and they had the river right there for transportation.

We are finally in Florida and glad to see water and green grass and 2 digit temps instead of 3. It seemed to be along trip back across the southwest but we're here now and already enjoying the lower cost of living.

Nothing like sitting on a nice sugar sand beach in the mid 80's and the nice, warm clean Gulf.
We are visiting our good friends Ed and Janie on the Florida Panhandle and then we will be headed to Fort Myers, FL for 2 months.
