Red Rock Canyon/ trip to Zappos in Vegas

The first couple of days we arrived in Vegas it was very hot by the third day it dropped into the low 80's instead of high 90's.  It has been really nice for the last 4 days but it is finally raining today.  Believe it or not it is really good to have a rainy day.  We have seen so little water and so little green that a rainy day is a very blessed event.
On Saturday we went to Red Rock Canyon with Brooke and her friend Rebbecca and we went for a short hike. After our hike we went out to lunch at a lovely little restaurant and had a very nice time.

We have really enjoyed our visit with Brooke.  When Brandon was little she spent a lot of time at our house playing with Brandon. It was a really sad day for me when Jill moved off the farm after the fire.  I loved having her next door.

What fun these two are.

Where there are rocks there are climbers

After a lovely lunch on an outdoor patio we dropped Rebbecca off and then Brooke took us to Zappos to show us where she works.

They moved to a new  building about 4 years ago it is in downtown Vegas and it was the old jail building which now houses the Zappos offices. The most unique corporate company I have ever seen.

This is the original old holding cell in front of the elevator up to lobby from the parking garage.

The above is 2 of the many conference rooms.  Each room has a theme.

Nicky loved being treated like royalty.

Brooke is standing in the room where the Buyers offices are.

Up on the gym floor they kept one of the jail cells up and use it to house supplies.

The 10th floor where the call center is located.

The coffee room where all beverages are free. There is also an outside Bistro and cafeteria.

Indoor cafeteria with an outdoor area at the sliding glass doors.

This is just part of the building.  There is a large center courtyard with lovely outdoor furniture for relaxing on lunch time or break.

A section of the park area around the building.

Or maybe the employees prefer to chill out playing miniature golf.

Lee and Brooke discussing the difference between the corporate company he worked for the the one she works for.

We have never seen anything like this place. You can tell it is run by the young and it is not prestigious at all. Brooke has been with the company now for 11 years.  It has just recently been bought out by Amazon.

We are off tomorrow to finish our dental work in Mexico.
