Joined by Jim and Tracy Tull in Verde Valley

The last 3 days of our stay at Verde Valley we were joined by Jim and Tracy  Tull.  The four of us are going to travel around together this spring and summer. We will be starting with all the national parks in southern UT.

The last e days in Verde Valley Jim and Tracy took us to some places we had not yet visited.

 We went first to the Clemenceau Heritage Museum which was very interesting. Gave you a wonderful picture of the development of the area.

How many of you remember a school room like this one. This museum used to be a school.

We also went to the museum in Jerome with Jim and Tracy.

Next we headed to the Haunted Hamburger for lunch.

Jim and Tracy took us to Ghost town just outside of Jerome. Antiques of all kinds a very unique place.

Lee loved the old lumber mill.

We left Verde Valley and headed off to Zion National park.

Here we are all set up in the Zion National Park campground.  Seniors with park pass only pay $8.00 per night. These campsites are first come basis.  Our friends Marie and Marvin Ray were already there and early that morning they signed us up and put thinks in each site to save it.

The Zion experience will begin on the next post.

Jeep ride in the hills of Sedona

Today we took a jeep ride in the hills of Sedona. The pictures speak for themselves.

Nicky felt like his teeth were shook out by the time we got back.

We didn't even know we were going to come across these ruins what a bonus.

You just can't take it all in no matter how  you try!!

Awesome day again.

We arrived home covered in red dust and hungry but opened the RV door to the smell of a beef roast in the crock pot. Sure glad I put that in this morning.

Sedona AZ part 2

I will include in this post a trip to one of our favorite shopping centers in Sedona and a few shots of the beautiful red rocks of Sedona.




 April 20 we will be heading to Zion and Bryce Canyon. After completing all the national parks in UT we will head to Banff and lake Louise.

Hope the weather continues to improve for all of you in the northeast and that you are all able to be out and about again.

 

Even though we have been here before it is still a sight to behold.

In the picture above there are pansies surrounded by what looks like cotton.  It is actually the pollen from the Cottonwood tree. Sometimes it looks like it is snowing here but it is just the Cottonwood pollen blowing around.

While there I picked up this cute looking guy and took him out to lunch.That is the name of the shopping center above.

Next time you hear from me we should be in Utah.

Verda Valley/Sedona, AZ 2015

How are all of you?  Hopefully spring is about to bloom where you are.  Everything is blooming here and it is quite warm.

We finished our stay in Menifee, CA and then went over to Winerhaven, CA where Lee completed dental work.  From there we went to Apache Junction, AZ to get together with Jim and Tracy so that together we could put together our spring and summer itinerary. We were there 6 days and we spent a lot of time working on that and then some time playing pickle ball.

We went to church together on Easter morning and then had a really nice dinner together. It was nice to get to meet some of Jim and Tracy's family who live very close by.  Jim and Tracy rent this space in Mesa year round so this is their home port. It is a lovely park with lots to do.

We left Jim and Tracy and went to the Verde Valley campground outside of Sedona.

This is the Smith family and we feel hopelessly in love with them.  They were parked next to us in Menifee. From left to right we have Vivian, Maddy, Meagan, Anne (mom) Aristotle, family picture and Mason. Some of the finest young people I have ever met. We hope to continue a long relationship with them.

We went to the Passion play at the Mormon Tabernacle with Jim and Tracy. The grounds there are incredible. and the play is free to the public.

Nicky likes to sit on my lap going down the road --he can see more.  He has found if he wears my visor it keeps the sun out of his eyes.

Aren't they beautiful?? The desert is in full bloom.

We had a very nice visit with Will and Ella Tatum before we left Yuma area.  They were able to show us around the resort that they have been workcampers in.  It is just lovely, I can see why they like it.

We left southern AZ and headed up to northern AZ . We are staying at Verde Valley Thousand Trails campground. The cows above just kind of hang by the entrance wall in the evening. The Verde River below was taken on  one of my walks with Nicky.

The collage above are some of the sights in Jerome an old copper mining town.  It is now a lovely tourist attraction with lots of interesting shoppes and good eating places.

In the resale shop above I found a lovely scarf for Nicky. The pool table is in the oldest Saloon in Arizona. I had to take a picture of this van. For those of you who have seen my brother's truck this van gives him some stiff competition. All the above pictures were also taken in Jerome.

One of the things we did not do the last time we were here is take the Verde Canyon Train ride.  This is a beautiful 4 hour train ride through the Verde Canyon along the Verde River which stretches for 160 miles.

Notice the rock at the top that looks just like a turtle.

Next blog will contain some scenes from Sedona.  We have one more week here and then we will be heading to Utah to do the National parks.
