There is a birthing pasture just off the bike trail and the other morning I saw that one mother's bag of waters had broken so I knew she was going to have her calf soon. I spent most of the day there and got to see one born and another pulled. The heifer was having a large bull calf and after struggling for hours they pulled it. I have never heard a cow moan like she did in labor.
You can see the bag of waters and the hoofs there.
Here come the hoofs and face
The calf is out.
Here is out little new born calf.
The farmers put a chain around each of the hoofs and pulled this calf. He is making sure the calf is breathing.
Mom is busy cleaning her baby up. Within the next hour the calf is up and feeling and jumping around.
We drove to Keaton beach from here about 50 miles away.
It is a very small beach but very private also. Lovely place to sit and read and Nicky can be off lead there and enjoy himself as well.
This guy was chatting up a storm
Nicky truly is a beach bum. He likes just sitting on the beach as much as I do.
This is where the 6 RV's from the previous picture sit.
I'd like to stay here a couple of weeks next year.
Lovely, quiet little area
Now let's talk about the best restaurant in Mayo, FL
This is an old bank building from 1915. Now the home of the Southern Biscuit Company. I had the best breakfast I've ever had in there. We don't have a cook in there we have a chef. He fixed a 14 layer chocolate cake that Lee loved.
This is a made to order omelet.
Biscuit french toast.
This place is open from 8am to 8pm daily. Closed Sunday and closed 3 on Wednesday.
This is Nicky and his new friend Roxie. That is Michelle and Larry's dog.
This is Charlie a chocolate toy. Nicky enjoyed him.
It has been nice having a large dog park.
This is a county park in nearby Branford.
There is a natural spring right beside the Suwanee River where the kids go swimming in the summer time. As you can see the boardwalk is partially covered due to high water right now.
I took this picture on a walk by this county park ---it is almost magical with all the Spanish moss.
Here is the name of the park--Ivey memorial park.
This is one the property at the park. It is just beautiful down in this section.
Walking along the Suwanee River.
This is a 1930 Ford camper and still being used by 2 old guys. They haul it down the road because it doesn't go very fast.
Nicky and Dad waiting for me to finish grocery shopping.
Pot luck dinner
I am getting the Nicky look----Are you done yet????
So I guess I better call this good.
