San Antonio at Medina Lake Campground

We stayed at Medina Lake campground.  We had a  couple of days of rain. Off and on kind of rain. But still, it's Texas it isn't supposed to rain here. The day before we left it was sunny and 86 degrees. Go figure, it's been freaky weather everywhere jumping all around.
Below is a picture of our campground spot.

This is the Medina lake damn. Nothing is flowing over. The portion of the lake in front of the campground is totally dried up. The drought is still terrible here.

As we drove to the damn we passed this beautiful fall scene.  I did not expect to see this kind of color in Texas.

We went to the River Walk in San Antonio.  This was our third time here and it never fails to impress me.

In the midst of a big city there is this wonder land. The water, the plants, and cafes and restaurants everywhere.

That cowboy in the foreground is my husband.

We had a really good Mexican lunch in this courtyard.

This is Ferguson Chapel located in Market Square.

One of the government buildings in the square.

We drove around what is called the hill country of Texas. We visited the town of Bandera known as the cowboy capital of the world. Bandera is where the cattle drives all began.

Some of the roads are something.
Well, I'm going to bed. We made it through another third of Texas today.  Tomorrow we will drive into Las Cruces, New Mexico.
More when we arrive there.

New Orleans 2014

This was our second time visiting New Orleans.  We stayed in an Enjoy America park called Land of the Pines.  It was very nice. We were only there 3 days. We visited the French Quarter again and had a spectacular lunch there. The following day we spent visiting 2 different plantations. It was chilly at night during those 3 days but did warm up during the day.

French Quarter

Hanging baskets and lots of rod iron

What's New Orleans without a paddle boat?

Looking over to the park and Jackson Square.

There are musicians all over .

This guy was really good.

The rod iron and the plants make it beautiful.

This is the San  Francisco Plantation.
The man who built this house died 2 years after it's completion.
Today is is owned by an oil company and they maintain it and do restorations as needed.
This was one of the many sugar plantations in this area.

Oak Valley Plantation.
Another sugar plantation.
The Virginia live oaks that line this road are awesome.

These are the slave quarters on the plantation. There were 20 cabins for 120 slaves.

The rooms still contain the original furnishings.

This could be Tara in Gone with the Wind.

It was another beautiful day.
On to San Antonio next.
Talk to you all soon.

Visit with Ed and Janie Jenkins

We left Nashville and drove to DeFuniak Springs, FL to visit with our good friends Ed and Janie Jenkins.

Ed and Janie's house
View looking up at the house from the water. It sits on Lake Juniper.

What a gorgeous setting.

Ed and his co-pilot Miss Molly
Out on the pontoon boat to view the sunset.

My dear sweet Janie. Please be in prayer for her on Nov. 19th as she is having foot surgery.

We were invited over to a fish fry at Charlotte and Larry's while here.  Here are the boys doing the frying.

Fish, hush puppies, beans, coleslaw and tons of desserts.

Nicky was delighted to be reunited with his good friend, Miss Molly.

Lee and Ed spent a couple of days working on the dock.

Jane I know you will want a copy of this. Don't they look great?

Above Janie, Charlotte, and Jerry

Lee had a little repair work to do on the washer. It seems the water pressure blew a hose.

Jerry Wagner painted this spectacular painting and gave it to me.  I feel so honored to have one of her paintings. She has talent that just doesn't stop.  Her quilts are awesome as are Janie's.
Jerry on our visit to the Air Force Armament.

Nicky and Miss Molly taking a break.

Fantastic old hardware store in DeFuniak Springs

The end of another beautiful day.

Must say Happy Birthday to my grandson, Garrett, who turns 16 today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARRETT

Talk to you all soon.

Trip around America Nashville,TN

Our grandson Troy attends Lipscomb University in Nashville and he was our main reason for going there. What a lovely campus and we had 2 beautiful days there. Troy is an engineering major and working really hard. He is there on a soccer scholarship and he really has his work cut out for him because he has a really tough schedule. He's a very special young man and our prayers are with him always.
This is a picture of the capital building.  It is the second oldest working capital buildings in the USA.  The first is Annapolis.

This is Nicky and I outside the Parthenon in Nashville.  It is the only built to scale replica the the Greek Parthenon in the world.  Built in 1897 to celebrate their centennial.

Parthenon in Nashville

When first built the Parthenon was surrounded by all of these other buildings. It now stands alone. Wonder what happen to all the others.
Gorgeous

This was a spectacular park. On one side of the sidewalk  is a column with a year on it.  On the other side of the sidewalk are engraved walls depicting what was happening during that time.  If one walked the entire park you would have the entire history of Nashville.

How's this for the old with the new?
Doesn't that look strange?

We were very disappointed.  They had just had the last show of the season. We were not able to get tickets for a performance here they were getting ready for the Rockets to come for a performance and we couldn't ever take a tour.

CM A's were going to take place here the next day.

We left home and that first day going through VA this is what it looked like and I asked---- We are going south why?????

Before we left home we had a lovely visit with our son David and family.  This is our grandson Garrett playing drums with the band at the football game.
This is our grand daughter Isabella in the black
This was senior recognition night so proud parents, David and Erica, got to walk their daughter across the football field.
It was an exciting night for Izzy
There was a dinner in the cafeteria after the game for the seniors and their families. It was lovely evening.
The week before this we were able to see our grand daughter Holly win yet another game. She is the goalie don't mess with her. Believe me she's got it covered.
