More Fort Myers, FL

We are here at the Groves for 2 months.  I can say it has been way too hot for me.  Still having July temperatures and humidity here.  I was rather be home in our mild winter.  I miss my family so much at this point that even good weather wouldn't help.
We have met some really nice people here and our neighbors are great and we have been doing a lot of things with them but I will never be away from home for the holidays again.

The beach, the sun, the water, none of it can make up for not being with family.

Tomorrow ,Christmas, we will go to the beach in the morning and then out to dinner at a local restaurant at 2:00 for dinner. Thank God we have the two dogs to open presents in the morning that will help some.
We will be attending a lovely candlelight service at the church we have been going to tonight. That will be lovely and enforce upon my homesick mind why we celebrate the season in the first place.

We made a trip to Labelle to see our friend Mark Jones. He took us on a tour of Riverbend RV park where they stay.  It is lovely.
this is Chris and Mark's site at Riverbend
We had dinner over at Barb and Mitch's, they bought a lot there, just recently.  It was sure good to see them both again.

This is Chris and Mark's dog, Teddy, he will be staying with us from Dec. 20 till Jan 5 while Mark flies home for the holidays.

We did go to sand building contest at Fort Myers beach

We went to the Greyhound races which I don't agree with at all. I wish I could adopt every one.

Love the birds in Florida
Off for a walk with Teddy and Nicky

Nicky had his 11th birthday on Dec.20th, we are so glad he is still with us.

What a nice spot to rest

Banyan trees are amazing
This is one banyan tree at the Edison estates.
The Edison home on the Edison estate
Florida's idea of a Christmas tree
Edison had one of the first pools in Florida
The grounds surrounding the estate are gorgeous
Another shot of Edison home
I can just see these ladies sitting on the home's wrap around porch.

This little building was constructed by Edison's wife and given to him as a Christmas present . It's his office.

How's that for a root system?
The is the Ford estate adjacent to the Edison Estate. Edison was a mentor to Ford and they both enjoyed their time here.

These are our neighbors and new friends Bob and Marianne. We took the tour with them..
I thought all the Christmas lights would get me in the spirit but without family it just doesn't.

How I love the big porches

A nice sunset and a lovely day spent with good friends.

Fort Myers, Florida

We are at the Groves RV Resort in Fort Myers Florida.  We will be here for November and December. Even this early the traffic to the beach is bad.  One must be on the beach by 9:30 and off by 2:30 to avoid the traffic. It is lovely there though and Santibel and Captiva and Lovers Key are close by but again the crowds and they really sock it to you for parking plus the bridge over to Santibel is $6.00.

We definitely prefer Venice there is less traffic and there is no parking fee at the beach.

I love going over to the causeway and playing with Nicky in the water. He absolutely loves the beach.

Nicky is 11 years old and he just finally realized that he can swim.

There is no traffic over to the causeway and it is a lovely place to sit and Nicky has the nice calm water to play in.

Saw this little guy on the beach and just had to take a picture of him.

The following are pictures of our good friend's dog Miss Molly

Now that is relaxing

We had a visit from our good friend Mark and his dog Teddy.  We will be babysitting Teddy over Christmas which is a good thing.  I need the distraction. I am very homesick and not looking forward to the holidays.

This is a picture of Ed and Janie's place on the Florida panhandle. You can see our rig and theirs there are a total of 3 RV slots on the property.

That's it for now more Fort Myers later.
